Graduation

Today we honored our first and second cohort with a ceremony highlighting their achievements, and goals within and outside of the program. We reminisced on the great times we had as a group and took the opportunity to share with our learners families and community what we have been able to accomplish. This Ceremony was in collaboration with the City of Whitby and partnership with Lorna Inspires.

July 6 & 7, 2023

See You Next July….

During the month of July we hosted a two day workshop focused on the introduction to entrepreneurship. We had several professionals and entrepreneurs share their experience in the field as well as their expertise on key topics for success in business. The “first steps” workshop explored creating and developing a business plan, business registration, pitching, branding and much more. Our second day focused on our collaboration with the organization Nobellum, which is an incubator program whose goal is to support black entrepreneurs launch their business. Nobellum hosted a grand event at Ajax Audley Centre, showcasing black excellence, while giving our workshop participants an opportunity to get a glimpse of what could be their future. This event also allowed them to practice key skills learnt during day one, like their elevator pitch and networking. Our participants who were in high school were also able to earn volunteer hours by supporting the Nobellum team during the Igniting Black Excellence in Durham event.

Over all, the workshop was a success and a great value to the participants that attended. Until next time.
